Commissioners are starting to review ARPA funding applications

Forsyth County Commissioners have begun the process of reviewing applications for American Rescue Plan Act (ARPA) funds, and updates on the status of each application can be found on the county’s website.

Application status will be updated online each Monday. The list shows applications alphabetically by organization and lists the amount requested, summary of request, and status. The application status may say:

• Withdrew (by applicant)
• Deemed Ineligible (County staff found that it didn’t meet federal ARPA criteria)
• Currently Under Staff Review (Staff is reviewing it before it’s brought before the commissioners)
• Currently Under Board Review (It’s being briefed to the county commissioners who will vote on it in a formal meeting)
• Referred (It was deemed eligible but referred to another non-county agency, like a municipal government, for possible funding)
• Declined (County commissioners voted not to fund it)
• Board Approved (County commissioners approved funding for it)

Commissioners will be reviewing staff recommendations on groups of applications that will be on their public meeting agenda. Commissioners will be briefed several times on each application before they vote on it in a formal meeting. Initial discussion of the first group of applications was done in the commissioners’ Oct. 28 briefing.

Briefing and meeting agendas can be found on the county's website. Commissioners' meetings and briefings begin at 2 p.m. on Thursdays and are held at the Forsyth County Government Center, 201 N. Chestnut St. Meeting can be watched live on WSTV 13 along on the county’s Facebook, YouTube and Vimeo.

Applicants are encouraged to attend briefings and meetings where their application is on the agenda. A public comment session is also held during formal meetings. Those who wish to participate remotely in the public comment session can call 336-422-1200 at 1:45 pm on the day of the meeting. Callers will be placed on hold, and recognized to speak in the order their call was received.
