Forsyth County DSS Implements Childcare Waitlist
The Forsyth County Department of Social Services (DSS) will implement a waitlist for Childcare Subsidies (vouchers) starting September 1, 2024. The department’s $16.9 million budget has reached its capacity for subsidies.
What does this mean for current recipients?
- Current recipients will continue to receive funding to support their existing childcare vouchers.
What happens if I need to add a sibling to an active case?
- DSS will accommodate siblings by adding them to existing cases.
What are the waitlist criteria?
- Household must have a need for childcare. Some examples are:
- Full-time or part-time employment
- Full-time or part-time credit hours for post-secondary school.
Those seeking to be added to the waitlist for childcare subsidies may do so by:
- Calling Forsyth DSS at 336-703-3800 option 3
- Visit Forsyth DSS at 741 Highland Ave. in Winston Salem
